Far away in a snowy land, there lived a little penguin named Pipo. Every morning, Pipo stood on a little hill and looked up at the sky. White birds flew over the blue sea, their wings dancing in the wind. Pipo watched them with bright eyes. “I wish I could fly too,” he whispered.

Pipo loved watching the birds. They could fly over the tall mountains and sail above the sparkling ocean. Pipo spread his little flippers and ran across the snow. “One day, I will fly!” he said happily. The cold wind touched his face, and Pipo imagined himself floating among the clouds.

The next morning, Pipo climbed onto a small hill of snow. He opened his flippers wide. “One, two, three!” He ran as fast as he could and jumped into the air. WHOOSH! For one tiny moment, Pipo felt like he was flying. Then—PLOP! He landed softly in the snow.

Pipo did not give up. He climbed onto a bigger piece of ice and tried again. He jumped higher, waved his flippers harder, and even made a little flying pose. But he still fell into the snow. Pipo looked at his flippers and sighed. “Maybe penguins just cannot fly.”

That evening, Pipo sat alone beside the sea. The sky turned pink, orange, and purple. Far away, birds flew home for the night. Pipo watched them quietly. “I want to fly like them,” he said. A gentle wave touched his little feet, as if the sea was giving him a tiny hug.

The next morning, Pipo walked to the edge of the sea. Suddenly, a little fish jumped out of the water. SPLASH! Pipo laughed and jumped in after it. Down he went, through the cool blue water. He moved his flippers quickly and swam faster and faster.

Pipo looked around in surprise. Under the sea, he could move like a little arrow. He swam past bright fish, green sea plants, and smooth rocks. SWISH, SWISH! Pipo had never felt so happy. “I may not fly in the sky,” he said, “but I can fly through the sea!”

Suddenly, Pipo heard a tiny cry. A baby seal was floating far away from the shore. The little seal was scared and could not swim back. Pipo quickly jumped into the water. SPLASH! He swam as fast as he could toward his new friend.

Pipo reached the baby seal and gently helped him swim back home. “Thank you, Pipo!” said the little seal. Pipo smiled. He looked up at the birds flying above the water. For the first time, he did not feel sad that he could not fly like them. He knew he had something special of his own.

That evening, Pipo stood on his snowy hill again. The sky was full of golden light, and the birds flew above him. Pipo spread his flippers and smiled. “I may not fly in the sky,” he said, “but I can fly through the sea.” Then he jumped into the sparkling water and swam happily beneath the sunset.
