Long ago, a widowed merchant lived with his three grown daughters. His youngest, Belle, preferred reading books and tending to her garden over fancy luxuries. When his business failed, the family moved to the countryside to live a simple, modest life.

Page 2

Before he left to check on an old shipment, the merchant asked his daughters what gifts they wanted. His two elder daughters asked for fine fabrics, while Belle only asked for a single fresh rose. The trip went badly, and the merchant got lost in a snowstorm.

Page 3

On his way back, he stumbled upon a lit-up castle deep in the snowy woods. When he went inside, everything was already prepared for guests, but the owner was nowhere to be seen. The next morning, he picked a rose to bring home to Belle.

Page 4

The merchant returned home and told everyone what had happened, planning to go back to the castle to keep his word. Seeing her father was exhausted, Belle volunteered to go in his place to explain the situation—no one forced her to go. When she arrived at the castle, she offered to stay as a guest and tend to the garden to make amends.

Page 5

The Beast agreed to her offer, gave her keys to every room in the castle, and only kept one private room off-limits, forbidding her from entering it on her own. The castle had a vast library, a greenhouse full of flowers, and household items that moved on their own thanks to magic.

Page 6

Every evening, the two ate dinner together. At first, the Beast spoke bluntly and harshly, but Belle was honest with him and told him that being a good host required manners. The Beast listened to her, and practiced saying polite phrases like “please” and “thank you”.

Page 7

One day, Belle’s curiosity got the better of her, and she opened the forbidden room. Inside, she found the enchanted rose kept under a glass dome. The Beast panicked and shouted at her, and Belle left the castle because she would not tolerate being threatened. While lost in the woods, she encountered a pack of hungry wolves.

Page 8

The Beast ran to her aid and chased the wolves off, but he was injured on his arm. Belle helped him bandage his wound, and made it clear that saving her did not erase his earlier outburst of anger. The Beast apologized, and explained the curse that had been placed on him.

Page 9

Winter passed, and a friendship grew between the two. The Beast let Belle use a magic mirror to check on her family, and she saw that her father was gravely ill. She asked to go visit him, and the Beast opened the castle gates, gifting her a magic ring that would let her return whenever she wanted.

Page 10

Belle stayed home to nurse her father back to health, and told her sisters about the castle and the Beast. Through the magic mirror, she saw the Beast lying sad and alone in the garden. Realizing she missed him, she put on the ring and chose to return to the castle on her own.

Page 11

Belle found the Beast beside the rose, which was about to lose its last petal. She told him she had come back because she cared deeply about the person he had become. They held hands as equals, and a bright light spread across the garden—the magic spell was broken.

Page 12

The Beast turned into a grown prince, who explained that the curse had stemmed from his own selfishness long ago, and it could only be broken if he learned to respect others. The enchanted household items in the castle also turned back into people, and Belle spent time getting to know the prince.

Page 13

Belle’s father and sisters were invited to the castle. The prince apologized to the merchant for having caused him so much fear, and compensated him for all his losses. Belle’s elder sisters let go of their jealousy, and together they opened a fabric shop with their own hard work.

Page 14

After spending a long time building trust, Belle and the prince held their wedding in the middle of a vibrant, blooming rose garden. They opened the castle’s library to everyone in the village, and turned the old forbidden room into a space to preserve the history of the curse.

Page 15

The last enchanted rose was planted in the ground, and grew into a thriving bush that bloomed without any magic. A person’s looks never tell the full story of who they are, but kindness never requires us to tolerate unfair treatment. Healthy love grows from freedom, clear boundaries, and genuine change.
